Primary soft palate biphasic synovial sarcoma - case report and literature review

Abstract BACKGROUND. Synovial sarcomas of the soft tissue are a particular type that rarely appear in head and neck region. CASE REPORT AND COMMENTS. We present case 27-year-old patient diagnosed 2017 with palate biphasic synovial sarcoma who presented recurrent microepistaxis, nasal obstruction, left cephalalgia aural fullness ear. The clinical examination showed tumor approximately 4/6 cm diameter, covered sero-sanguinolent secretions, pulsating nature, completely obstructing choana. surgical treatment consisted complete removal under endoscopic guidance electrocauterization insertion area, without further postoperative radiotherapy. histopathological aspect was suggestive for pleomorphic sarcoma, poorly differentiated, confirming local recurrence tumor. also lung metastasis from undifferentiated malignant CONCLUSION. particularity this is represented by extremely rare occurrence region, especially at level palate. Complete resection negative margins represent mainstay treatment, associated adjuvant radiotherapy, an important role improving disease-specific survival.
